Derishat Shalom:
Send your greetings to Israel

A group of American rabbinical students studying in Jerusalem is working on a unique project to support Israelies during these difficult times. It's called "Derishat Shalom" and it involves Jewish communities all over the world (i.e: you and your students!)
The task is simple: They are asking Jewish groups (youth groups, Hebrew schools, day schools, senior centers, synagogues, Hillels, JCC's, etc.) to send handmade cards, posters, and/or pictures of support and encouragement to Israel. Cards should include the name, age and community of the creators.
Send your artwork by July 1st to:
   Machon Schechter
   c/o Dana Rone Saroken
   Rehov Avraham Granot #4.
   PO Box 8600
   Jerusalem, 91083. Israel.

Once these cards are received, these rabbinical students will be posting them all over the bus stops, places where bomb-attacks have occurred, hospitals, streets and other public places. It's a simple gesture but will undoubtedly bring smiles to passerbyes and increase morale in a bleak situation where many feel isolated.
In order to make this project a huge success, please forward this e-mail to any teachers, administrators, community leaders or friends that you know, from as many states and countries as possible!
If you have any questions, please e-mail: rafianddana@yahoo.com
I personally think this is a great project and a teriffic tool to teach the concept of "Kol yisrael Arevim Zeh LaZeh" (All of the Jewish People are Responsible for One Another) to your students. I hope you agree.
