It was the custom of Jews in Germanic lands to form a scarf from the wrap worn by the infant during circumcision. The scarf, decorated by the child's family, was inscribed with a blessing and used as a personalized Torah Binder for the child's Bar Mitzvah and Wedding celebrations. This tradition, which was almost lost during the Holocaust, is now enjoying a strong revival. Our Wimpel Kit, inspired by an 18th century Italian design, includes a long narrow scarf with reinforced pointed edges and satin ties. Today, in many communities, a wimpel is also created in honor of a child's consecration and/or Bar/Bat-Mitzvah celebrations.

As with all our Rimone Path programs,
this Wimpel program is comprised of four components. Click on each of these four icons to learn about each component.
